Partnership with Kalaari
Kalaari has been a very supportive partner in our journey while simultaneously challenging us to explore more opportunities and challenging the assumptions we make. This has kept us on our toes and allowed us to adapt quickly to new opportunities.
Your first meeting
I vividly recall my first interaction with Kalaari, where I presented to their entire team. I was surprised at the number of people in the audience. I was expecting 3-4, but there were close to 15. I was frequently interrupted with questions, some of which I felt were not so relevant and some upset the flow of presentation.
In retrospect, I feel that those questions were more designed to see how the founder performed under pressure. The questions also meant that I did not have time to cover all the ground that I wanted. However, I did do a product demo and underscored all the key points I wanted to leave them with.
When I walked out of the room, I remember wishing I’d answered certain questions differently and felt certain that Kalaari would not invest. I guess that Kalaari was looking to see if the founder was passionate, kept his cool under pressure and had answers to questions thrown at him. Somehow, I passed!
